GEP Speaker Kiran Vyas Receives Padma Shri Award

The GEP Speaker, Dr. Kiran Vyas, was presented with the Padma Shri Award by the President of India Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony at her official residence on Thursday.  Dr. Vyas received the award for his contributions to the field of Yoga.

The Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian honours in India.  The award seeks to recognize achievements in all fields of activities or disciplines where an element of public service is involved.

Kiran Vyas resides in France, where he has been teaching yoga and Ayurveda for three decades from his open university in Normandy and centre in Paris. Countless numbers of people have come into contact with Indian culture through him, and feel deeply touched by his vast knowledge, great humility, and gentleness of spirit.

Dr. Kiran Vyas is the Speaker of the Global Energy Parliament, Chairman of GEP France, founder and director of the Tapovan Open University and Ayurvedic Centres in Europe, Member of the Advisory Committee of the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, President of the School Education Group Sincerity in Gujarat, and Founder and Executive Member of the European Council on Ayurveda.

Kiran Vyas was born in Lakhtar (Gujarat), and received his education in the Aurobindo Ashram. His father worked at the Sabarmati Ashram with Mahatma Gandhi, from whom he received great philosophical principles on yoga and culture.

Dr. Vyas worked at ISRO in 1971. At the same time, he founded and directed three experimental schools in Gujarat.  Later he moved to Paris, where he worked at the UNESCO Paris as permanent representative and member of the World Council of INSEA (International Society for Education through Art, Non-Governmental Organization).

He leads the International Day of Yoga practice at the Eiffel Tower with thousands of participants. Countless numbers of people have come into contact with yoga and Indian culture through him, and feel deeply touched by his vast knowledge, humility, and gentleness of spirit.

In November 2023, he took over the Speakership of the Global Energy Parliament from Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, the Governor of West Bengal. The Global Energy Parliament (GEP), an esteemed international body, is dedicated to ensuring a self-sustaining, peaceful existence for both humanity and the universe. Guided by the unifying I-Theory developed by its founder, His Holiness Jagadguru Swami Isa, the Parliament is committed to devising innovative solutions to global crises. Since its inception in 2010, GEP has conducted international sessions in various countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. GEP is organized by the Isa Viswa Prajnana Trust, a charitable organization which holds Consultative Status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
